Local environmental concerns vs. Climate: Increasing societal polarization in energy policy

The WinWind partners Cicero and the Environmental Policy Research Centre (FUB-FFU) of the Freie Universität Berlin will be hosting a panel session at the ECPR General Conference in Wrocław 4-7 September 2019. The session will be co-chaired by project coordinator Maria Rosaria DiNucci.

The panel will deal with "Local environmental concerns vs. Climate: Increasing societal polarization in energy policy". Energy projects such as renewable energy deployment or grid construction require extensive use of land, resulting in two key challenges that tend to oppose each other: climate change mitigation versus local environmental concerns.

WinWind invites the submission of  papers that focus on increasing societal polarization in energy and climate policy, in particular the conflict between opposing concerns, including contributions addressing social acceptance. If you are interested in submitting a paper to our panel, please propose an abstract (max 500 words) by 18 February 2019 via the ECPR web site (see below). You may send us your paper proposal (info@winwind-project.eu) prior to this deadline or let us know, if you are interested in participating.

The panel is part of the section "Energy Transitions in Europe: On the Crossroads of Changing Political and Socio-Technological Paradigms" chaired by Jan Osička and Kacper Szulecki.
