Stakeholder Desks

Italy

ENEA, the National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development, together with EcoAzioni, are the Italian partners in theWinWind project and coordinators of the National Desk, aimed at increasing social acceptance and enhancing the development of onshore wind energy in 'wind energy scarce regions' (WESR). For Italy, Lazio and Abruzzo are target regions taking advantage of the experience gained in the regions with the greatest diffusion of wind energy: Sardinia and Puglia.

The first National Stakeholder Desk (ND) was launched on 23 February 2018 at ENEA with the participation of over 30 stakeholders and experts from the public and private sectors: Ministry of Economic Development, Lazio region, Research Institutions (ENEA, ISPRA,RSE, CNR, INGV), Universities, Italian Associations of Small Wind Energy, Wind Project developers, Environmental NGOs, Energy utility companies (ENI, Enel Green Power), Italian Chamber of Commerce, experts from the Commission for Environmental Impact Assessment, the Ministry of the Environment and Protection of Land and Sea, architects and engineers.

The ND must become an open round table, as a forum, to improve governance processes and find solutions that could be replicated in others territories, through participatory procedures that will make possible to develop shared approach on social acceptance issues. A first result was the online questionnaire, still available, directly addressed to all the relevant stakeholders, as a tool for investigating the role of wind power and social acceptance.
