KAPE explores transfer potential of wind projects in Kisielice

WinWind partner KAPE has organised meeting with the former mayor of Kisielice in Olsztyn on 22 May 2018. As he has excellent knowledge on the activities carried out in Kisielice to promote the development of wind energy, he is a key partner for KAPE’s activities related to the WinWind project. The meeting was joined by a representative of the Regional Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, who also hosted the gathering. The purpose of the meeting was to gather specific insight and information on the measures carried out in Kisielice, in order to consider the transfer potential to other Polish regions.

Among Polish municipalities, Kisielice is regarded as a pioneer in wind energy, given that it took the decision to invest in wind energy development already in 1997. At that time, the mayor initiated a series of activities aimed at establishing a stable platform for future wind energy investments. This process lasted nearly six years, leading to the creation of the first wind turbines in the region.

The meeting allowed KAPE to identify existing initiatives enhancing social awareness in the field of wind energy, as well as measures positively influencing social acceptance. The issue of organising a Thematic Workshop in Kisielice was also discussed. The former mayor, who is still strongly engaged with the promotion of renewables, showed willingness to take a key and active role in such an event.
