FFU presents WinWind at the Futures Conference 2018 in Tampere

On June 13, 2018, Rosaria Di Nucci (Environmental Policy Research Center - FFU) held the keynote speech: “Energy Transition between Acceptance and “Nimbyism”. The Case of Wind Energy in Germany” at the Futures Conference 2018 “ENERGIZING FUTURES – Sustainable Development and Energy in Transition”.

The two-day conference took place in Tampere, Finland. One of the key issues underlined was the role of social and of local acceptance of wind energy. Dr. Di Nucci highlighted the role of wind power for the Energiewende, discussed various forms of acceptance and factors affecting local acceptance. She analysed recent approaches of current social acceptance research on large infrastructure projects, illustrated barriers and drivers for local acceptance and presented preliminary findings of the German case study. The speech focused on the case of wind energy in selected German regions and discussed a number of factors affecting acceptance both positively and negatively. The international conference gathered over 200 participants from across Europe, mostly from research institutes and universities, but also practitioners and NGOs. The abstract and presentation can be found on the site of the Futures Conference.
